Danni Nicholls is a singer-songwriter from London (ex-Brighton) who has a head full of big-themed country-style songs, delivered with a punch. She's also rather gorgeous and charming.
Danni has a lovely warm clear voice, that hits you in all the right places. She uses it to relate tales of break-ups, make-ups, great American train journeys, wild camping under the stars, hopes and dreams. Her guitar playing is an attacking style, with a bit of wicked finger picking in places. Lyrically her songs are superb - Nicholls really is a talented songwriter.
We only caught six or seven songs from Danni so we'd have loved to hear her sing a ballad - we're sure she could wring out the emotion from a slower song, but that wasn't the mood of tonight's party-time gig.
She has a new EP out - "Heavy Shoes" (
iTunes) that would be well worth checking out.
